Getting rid of wrinkles after they appear is usually harder than learning the proper way to prevent them to begin with. Either way, though, it’s a very similar problem and it’s one which most adults have in common. As kids, people want to look or be older. As adults, though, they want just the opposite.

Before you can prevent wrinkles, you need to understand how they get started. After all, it’s impossible to avoid or treat what you don’t understand. There are two big causes of wrinkles to learn about.

Of the two big categories of causes of wrinkles, one is intrinsic (internal) causes. Those are, basically, causes that occur inside your body. For example, genetics can play a role in how young or old you are when you develop wrinkles.

There are, fortunately, lots of products on the market that are intended to help you reverse signs of aging. Some work and some don’t, though. Also, a lot depends on your particular problem. You might have thinning skin, rough skin, sagging skin or dry skin, for example.

Aside from the intrinsic aspect of skin damage, there are also extrinsic causes to think about. Those are things that are outside of your body that can cause wrinkles. Which basically means that the lifestyle you choose to lead can partially determine whether or not you have problems with your skin.

Sun Damage:

When it comes to the relationship between your skin and the sun, it’s a case of too much of a good thing. Like many other things, sun exposure is healthy in moderation. Too much of it, which we all tend to get, especially as kids, can cause not just wrinkles, but even skin cancer.

Smoke:

If you smoke, you should consider quitting now, if you want to reverse signs of aging, like wrinkles. After all, smoking causes skin to become discolored, paper-like and wrinkled. So, you can’t expect to avoid early signs of aging if you smoke.

Facial Exercises:

It’s difficult to say whether facial exercises can help you stop wrinkles from forming or not. A few exercises can certainly help you to firm up your muscles. However, if you over do it, some say that you will just create the very wrinkles you’re trying to stop.

As you’ve probably figured out, the best way to avoid wrinkles is to make the right lifestyle choices. You should also back up those choices with a good daily skin care regimen. If you do that, you can, hopefully, stave off the signs of aging.
